International Student Apartment Management System of SUST

International Student Apartment is an important place for international students to study, live and rest, as well as an important education part of the university’s management, service and environment. To make the International Student Apartment a united, civilized, clean and comfortable home for students, this regulation is established.

1. 24-hour duty is implemented in the International Student Apartment, and the staffs on duty must fulfill their duties and shall not leave their posts without permission. They should be alert to suspicious individuals, conduct thorough questioning and report any concerns promptly to the Security Office and other relevant departments.

2. The access control system is strictly enforced. Students and visitors should use the facial recognition gates actively, and unauthorized personnel or individuals not residing in the dormitory are not allowed entry without the permission of the apartment manager. In case of special circumstances, visitors must register with valid identification and be confirmed by the interviewee in person before entering the apartment.  

3. New students enroll in the International Student Apartment based on the dormitory number assigned by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges (College of International Education) and apply for accommodation in the designated room. Private room changes are not allowed.

4. Anyone who enters or leaves the apartment must actively pass through the face recognition gate, and if asked, respond politely. Individuals not residing in the apartment are not allowed entry without permission.

5. The apartment operates under closed management. No one is permitted to host non-residents in the international students’ dormitory. Males are not allowed in female dormitories, and females are not allowed in male dormitories without permission.

6. International students should strictly abide by the work and rest time. From 23:30 pm to 6:00 am the next day, the doors of the apartment will be closed. International students must return to their dormitories before the closing time of the apartment. Late returnees must explain the reasons for coming back late and register their late return. The manager on duty will make records of late returns of students with special conditions, and report those who are repeatedly late or have poor attitudes to the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges (College of International Education) to be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations.  

7. International students should exhibit civility and politeness, and pay attention to their words and behaviors. It is strictly prohibited to display religious items and carry out religious activities in the apartment. It is strictly prohibited to play mahjong, gamble, set off firecrackers and play audio-visuals at high volume, and watch prohibited videos and TV programs. Hanging flags, banners, and slogans is forbidden. Keeping pets, storing bicycles and electric vehicles, and charging electric vehicles within the apartment is prohibited. It is strictly prohibited to post all kinds of advertisements on the dormitory doors and windows. It is strictly prohibited to climb over the balcony guardrails. It is strictly prohibited to play balls, practice martial arts, dance, jump rope, make noise, etc. inside the building.

8. Students must take care of public property, keep the equipment in good condition, consciously maintain public order and hygiene. They cannot privately modify, dismantle, or misappropriate various indoor equipment, and are not allowed to move the furniture from public places and other places to the dormitory for use. They are not allowed to change the locks of the doors privately.

9. When carrying items in and out of the apartment, students should proactively accept the inspection and registration of the doorkeeper; refusal is not permitted. Business activities within the apartment are prohibited, and bringing vendors into the building for transactions is not allowed. Students should promptly supervise and report any business activities in the apartment.  

10. No flammable, explosive, highly toxic or radioactive substances may be brought into the apartment. Controlled knives should not be stored, and the use of open flames such as lighting candles or mosquito coils is prohibited. Students should pay attention to fire prevention, anti-theft, anti-cheating, anti-drugs, and natural disaster precautions; enhance the awareness of safety and properly safeguard their personal belongings.

11. It is strictly prohibited to use all kinds of open-flame heating appliances such as alcohol stoves, kerosene stoves, liquefied petroleum gas, solid alcohol, etc., in the dormitory. It is also strictly prohibited to use all kinds of low-quality or aging high-power electrical appliances and purely resistive electrical appliances. It is strictly prohibited to use large-capacity power supply (batteries); it is strictly prohibited to hang umbrellas and clothes on the bridge of the building; and it is strictly prohibited to use poor-quality chargers, power banks, charging lamps and other charging facilities. Always remember to turn off the power when leaving the dormitory and avoid using charging facilities when no one is present to eliminate potential safety hazards. Please use regular brand, quality-qualified power strips.

12. It is strictly prohibited to connect wires privately, connect external air-conditioning power supply, and modify fan switches and install sockets.  

13. The dormitory should be kept hygienic and clean on a regular basis, and bedding, clothing, shoes and other indoor items should be neatly arranged.

14. Maintain public area hygiene consciously. Garbage should be cleared daily, and bagged garbage should be put into the designated trash bins outside the building and sorted accordingly. Piling up garbage in the hallways is not allowed. It is prohibited to throw water, dirt, and other items inside the building and outside the windows of the balconies. Additionally, placing any items on window sills or air-conditioning units outside is prohibited to prevent falling objects.

15. Maintain the normal operation of the monitoring facilities in the apartment consciously. Please do not arbitrarily destroy various safety and fire signs and emergency lights in the building, and do not block the safety and fire evacuation routes. According to the Fire Prevention Law of The People’s Republic of China, students are prohibited from using fire-fighting equipment in the absence of fire or other abnormal conditions.

16. Climbing on doors, windows, guardrails, walls and rooftops is strictly prohibited. Any safety accidents that occur as a result will be the student’s own responsibility.

17. Students suffering from infectious diseases shall be isolated and treated in accordance with the regulations of the school hospital to prevent the expansion of the infection. To resume classes after recovering from the disease, students must present a certificate from the school hospital to the relevant departments for necessary procedures.

18. International students have the right to monitor the work of the dormitory management and service staff, and put forward their opinions and suggestions to the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (College of International Education).
